Our sun is an almost limitless source of energy that can be converted to power for electricity. This kind of energy is available even for the home.

solar array

To harness power for your electric needs, you will first have to secure the materials needed to build a solar array or assembly. These are essentially semi-conductors, batteries, and a charge controller. You can begin putting together your solar assembly by linking several solar cells (semi-conductor materials) in a series. These solar cells, when exposed to sunlight, can create electric current. To collect the electric current, you will then connect the solar assembly to a battery bank through a charge controller. This charge controller will regulate the charging process for the batteries.

How big should your solar array or assembly be? That will have to depend on how much electricity you need for your household.

Finally, you decide … Where would be the best place at home for your solar assembly?
